A Review Of Elecric Schwinn Scooters
Subscribe To Our FeedBack during the mid 20th century, Schwinn was the unquestioned king of the bicycle market. Getting a Schwinn bicycle was practically the equivilant of your parents buying a new Cadillac. The bikes were ruggedly built and made to last, so the outstanding reviews they received were definitely deserved. Now in the 21st century, Schwinn is producing a line of electric scooters which are receiving mixed reviews from consumers. When I read the first negative reviews, I was disappointed due to my memories of Schwinn quality. However, as I kept reading what people had to say, I started to wonder if, like so many other companies, Schwinn’s quality standards have slipped.
One of the Schwinn models that many people have purchased is the S350. Many reviewers have commented that it is built sturdily; however, there are also quite a few who stated they have had mechanical or electrical problems that neither the store they purchased it from or the company that made it was willing to address. They complain of chains falling off, batteries that refuse to hold a charge, instruction manuals that are hard to follow, and lack of power.
On another site the Schwinn 400 electric scooter was only given a 3.4 out of a possible 5 stars. Again, although some who reviewed the 400 stated they were pleased with its performance, others had more problems than expected. One reviewer commented on the short battery life, stating that his children can only use their scooter 15-20 on a full charge without the battery running down. The owners manual even clearly states that in order for the battery to last as long as possible, operating at full throttle should be avoided. Although it is claimed that the 400 can travel as much as 8 miles per charge, actual users find 2-3 miles to be more achievable.
The Schwinn 500CD seems to have fared better with reviewers, receiving 4 of 5 stars as an overall rating. People who like this scooter say it’s ideal for running errands because it saves up to half the money on gas mileage. They commented that it has great speed and acceleration, the battery is long-lasting and powerful, and that it’s well-designed with cool styling. Detractors, however, found that their batteries didn’t last long, and when they went to replace them, they cost half the price of a new scooter. In addition, they once again mention that Currie Technology, the company that manufactures Schwinn products, refused to do anything about the problems they were having.
It’s always difficult to know what to expect from a product when you find such mixed reviews. Ratings ranged from 1 star to 5 with some reviewers advising potential buyers to stay away from all Schwinn products and others saying that’s the only brand they would ever want to buy. When purchasing a Schwinn electric scooter, you want to find a store or a website that offers you guaranteed satisfaction and clearly spells out what it’s position will be if there’s anything wrong with the scooter you buy. If a company isn’t willing to stand behind its merchandise, that’s a clear signal for buyers to beware.
