Never, ever, just assume something when it comes to insurance for your motor vehicle. There are people that assume owning a motor scooter, contrary to a motorcycle means they do not have to register or even insure it.

Always check with your local department for motor vehicles before you take your motor scooter out for a spin maybe you do need insurance for motor scooter before you hit the road. It would be really strange if your state has no laws that tell you an insurance for motor scooters is not needed, even if you own the smallest scooter chances are you will need insurance for it and it needs to be registered.

In some states insurance for motor scooter is not required for scooters below a certain size (many states use 50cc as a cut off point where anything 49cc and smaller does not require coverage) but to be completely sure you need to contact your DMV and find out exactly what the laws are that govern insurance for motor scooter in your state so that you can properly abide by them.

What you use your motor scooter for can also affect the price and scope of the insurance for motor scooter that you would need to get. If you bought your scooter simply for entertainment and have no intention on regular usage then you would need different insurance for motor scooter than someone who purchased their motor scooter to get to work every day.

Keep in mind that if you try and cheat the system by getting less insurance and you get into a scooter accident on the way to work you could be liable for insurance fraud. So being honest with your insurance agent when you are getting a insurance for motor scooter is extremely important so that not only you are properly covered but so is anyone that you may get into an accident with.

Where Do You Intend To Ride Your Scooter?

When you won’t be on the major roads or the highway with your scooter this is probably helpful in getting a lower insurance for motor scooter. The reason for this is that in this case you are keeping away from the major areas that are known for traffic and this reduces the risk and thus the cost of insurance. You should always check with your insurance agent and see if such a reduction is possible. Not all insurance agents know about the specifics of an insurance for motor scooter but most of them will know how to obtain that knowledge. Just make sure you tell the whole story so your agent can anticipate on eventualities that could take place in the future and that need to be covered by the insurance for motor scooter.

A Motor scooter in Bali? You’ve just met your best friend

If only Cornelis de Houtman had a motor scooter with him when he landed on Bali in 1597 then getting around wouldn’t have been so difficult for him. Of course all the modern places you now find on Bali were not even thought of in his days but now they are here and the best way to get around Bali is to go by motor scooter. A motor scooter in Bali is far superior to both cars and pedestrians at the moment. This motor scooter sized island is an Indonesian province you really want to visit.

Motor Scooters, Bali was made for them

With a length of roughly ninety-five miles and a width of sixty-nine miles, Bali is the perfect day-tripper island. With your motor scooter in Bali, it’s also easy to toss a knapsack on and make a two or three day trip around the island. Make sure you check out Mt. Agung and the still active volcano of Mt. Batur! Unlike a car, motor scooters do quite well on the twisty, sometimes poorly paved roads of Bali.

Drivers should know also that most driving rules and regulations are for guidance only. Locals in Bali use the motor scooter for just about everything. If you think you’d have trouble packing for a two day trip on your scooter, just take a look around at the traffic. There are literally hundreds of motor scooters zipping by, most of them laden down with families, furniture, livestock…you name it! Forgoing the high costs of cars, locals know that the nimble motor scooter and Bali are ideally suited.

Gassing or bottling Up

First of all gas is called petrol on Bali so keep that in mind when you are in need of gas when you ride your motor scooter. There are some official branded gas/petrol station with their own compressors and pumps. But you will find many more street side stations that sometimes only have a few bottles of fuel lying around on some shelves. And if you think about it, a few bottles is all you need to get around on Bali. Another positive thing about these roadside stations is that most of the times they are cheaper compared to the branded stations.

Cheaper fuel costs is not the only reason you should use a motor scooter to get around Bali. A Motor scooter is also very cheap to rent and you won’t have much trouble operating one. Renting a motor scooter for one day will set you back whopping 37,000 rupiah… which comes down to a mere 4 dollars. You don’t even need a drivers license to ride one. Always test the motor scooter before you drive away. Bali is reasonably priced so if you think the motor scooter is not up to standards there are plenty of other things you can spend those 4 dollars on.
